  1. Default Port Angles, Wa. to Tucson, Az

I am looking for a rv friendly route from Port Angles, Wa. to Tucson, Az. I do not want to take I-5 because it has to many mountain passes in Oregon and N. California. I also do not want to have to drive thru the LA area. I am thinking of going thru Boise, Id and then down US 93 into Nevada. I need to be in Tucson in three days. Any suggestions?

    Default Two Big Problems

    Welcome to the RTA forum!

I see two issues with your plan.

First, you want to avoid I-5 because of the mountains. The problem is there really isn't a mountain free route between Washington State and Tucson. You'll still have mountains on the drive to Boise, and US-93 is a two lane route that has plenty of mountainous terrain.

Your other problem is that on a direct route, you've already got 3 full days of driving. I don't see how you have time to take a less direct route that includes hundreds of miles of two lane roads.

While I know its not the advice you are looking for, Honestly, I think your best choice will be to take I-5 to California. If you want to avoid LA, you can take CA-58 from Bakersfield over the Tehachapi Pass (a lower elevation than I-5's grapevine) and take that to US-395, go south to I-15, and join I-10 in the San Bernardino area.
