  1. Default Spring Break/East Coast Road Trip

I basically need tons of help. I've been trying to look up different ideas for my trip, but hopefully others will be able to centralize some ideas for me.
My best friend and I are pretty broke, so we can't afford to take a 'traditional spring break' so we were thinking of taking his car on the road for a few days to a week. It would be in the beginning of March.
We'd be leaving from Philly, and I think we'd want to travel south to get a few degrees higher temperature. =) Any ideas for how far we could go and come back within a week and things to do/places to stay along the East Coast that would be fun and inexpensive? We're both pretty laid back and we'd enjoy everything from nightlife to state parks to any old tourist attractions.
Any ideas would be helpful and welcome! Thanks!

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

I'm not even sure I know what a traditional spring break is anymore, but with a week at your disposal, you'll have plenty of options. With a week at your disposal, you can pretty easily visit almost anywhere east of the Mississippi. There really are millions of possibilities, but I think you might find some of this information about the SE interesting.

I think it will be helpful if you can define your budget a little more specifically. "Pretty Broke" could mean quite a few different things to different people, but I think you'd also benefit from our Cheap Trips article. Since the longer you are on the road, generally, the more money a trip will require, so if you are really strapped for cash, you might want to just make your trip a short long weekend type trip, then trying to overextend yourself by being on the road for the full week.

I'm tryin to plan a road trip with me and my best friend, Drew....and he lives in Philly so we'd be leaving from there and we want to go south and we're broke!! and we're also laid back, but wanna have fun. so let me know if you find any good, cheap, fun plans! cause im totally at loss for how to start planning a trip like this =)

Welcome to the RTA Forum, jennamarie!

I'm sorry to tell you that this thread is from February 2009, and that was the only post katyk ever made, so its unlikely you'll hear back from her.

Having said that, take a look at the links in the above post, take a look around this forum some more, and just spend some time creating a wish list of places that might interest you. Once you've got a better idea of where you want to go, we can help you put things together.
