  1. Default Southern California to Denver with Dogs

We're planning on driving from Southern California to Denver with our two dogs the first two weeks of August. We're visiting friends in Denver, so we're hoping to make the trip in two days.

Does anyone have any recommendations for dog friendly stops. Where is a good place to stop for the night?

Any other tips for doing this trip are welcome! We've never even been to Las Vegas, so this is undriven road for us!

    Thanks in advance!

oh, and how busy is it this time of year? Are reservations a must? Can we find a hotel when we're ready to stop? I'm a planner, so it would be hard for me to go without reservations, since I don't know how busy some of the areas will be.

Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !

You can certainly do the trip in 2 full days of driving but you mention going to Las Vegas. If you wanted to spend time there you might want to take an extra day as you will be driving for 9-10 hours a day over 2 days depending on your actual start point. If you don't want to book in advance I would find some pet friendly hotels on route and make a note of there telephone numbers and locations so you could call ahead from the road to check availability. A two day trip would put somewhere between Beaver UT [I-15] and Richfield UT [I-70] as half way points. Sorry I can't personally recommend a particular place.

Thanks. I think we're going to try to make it to Salina, UT the first night. We probably won't stop in Vegas (other than for gas/lunch).

Are there any good side trips off of I-70 between UT and Denver? Dog friendly side trips, that is. We don't need a dog park, but if there is a trail to go see something, we would like to have them with us.

    Default Not Just for Humans

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

Some time ago, I did an exercise where I found nice places for breaks along the major Interstates. Most of these will also allow pets as long as they're on leash and you pick up after them. In addition, roadside rests usually have 'pet exercise' areas.
