  1. Default Update

    Hi guys,

I came back from my trip. It was fantastic. I went to the following places:

    a) Sleeping bear sand dunes
    b) Pictured rocks
    c) Seney wildlife refuge
    d) Porcupine mountains.

The weather was lovely. I got plenty of sun and lots of excellent pictures. The drive was a pleasure. Even the storage ideas worked out for me while I was camped in different places.

I tried out a veggie pasty. was not at all impressed by it. It was a bit too bland for me.

Thanks for the guidance guys! You really helped me plan a nice trip.

    Default excellent

Thanks for reporting back, the weather in this part of the country was excellent for labor day travelers.

I've never had a veggie pasty, but I've noticed even the meat ones can be a bit bland if you don't get them from the right place.

Also, as an update from Foy's note that I didn't notice earlier, one of the Ferries (Lake Express from Milwaukee) is actually a high speed ferry that can get across the lake in about 2 hours. The SS Badger takes about 4 hours to cross.

  5. Default Here are a few pics

    Hey guys,

I am still slowly processing my pics. Here are a few pics I have processed so far (I still have a ton more!). As you can see, I am quite a serious amateur photographer, so taking pics is very important to me!

    Default great pics

The pictures are very well done. You've certainly got a good grasp on the photography aspect of the trip.

    Thanks Michael.

One thing that I really liked about UP was the fact there were campgrounds all over the place. It is sparsely populated and I really enjoyed that. I am sure there are so many other things to see there. I spend around 10 days and barely scratched the surface.

I'm glad you enjoyed the UP and glad you found the area still ripe with campgrounds. It's such a large, remote area, a 10 day trip is brief.

Keep the Huron Mtns, Point Abbaye, and the Keeweenaw Peninsula on your list for a return trip. Oh, and Isle Royale NP.

    Best,

    Foy

Not sure if anyone is still interested. Here are pics from the trip. I uploaded all (well, almost all) of them to photo.net
