  1. Default Oregon in the Summer

    Hello to Everybody;

My husband and I and two toy poodles, plan to spend about 10 weeks this Summer, traveling California and Oregon.
After reading this forum I am very impressed by the deep knowledge and friendliness demonstrated in advises given .
Part of our existence is supported by selling on swap meets and flea markets,
we sell musical instruments . We live in South California, Riverside County,
    Lake Elsinore.
When weather over majority of the year is our business friendly, Summers in this area become way to hot for this kind of activity.

Over the last few years we went to North California, to Colorado and New Mexico,
however planned for this year Oregon we are going to travel the first time.
I am looking for the recommendations of nice campgrounds ( tent, dogs and small cargo trailer), the areas nature wise interesting and if possible,
located not very far away from outdoor market which accepts new vendors,
    large markets .
We are having strong interest in water in every form of it, mountains and areas friendly for the dogs .

I want to thanks in advance for any suggestions from members , who know state of Oregon really well, for to find this kind of information on internet is difficult and high prices of gas really put the limit on possibility of experimenting.
I expect we will spend in Oregon 5 to 6 weeks, and ideally we would like to stay for about a week each on 4-5 campgrounds .

    regards
    eva

Lake Elsinore is a pretty lovely place to call home.

Oregon State Park campgrounds are some of the nicest in the country -- Beverly State Beach is one of my favorite places on the coast. You probably know more about the swap meet circuit better than any of us -- but this is good site for getting an overview of locations.

Given your specialty -- I would think that locations near college towns would be smart -- there is a campground near Corvallis (Benton Oaks) that is right next to the Benton County fair grounds that might work well. Actually, I think would I would suggest is that you get a copy of either Woodall's or TrailerLife Camping guide and cross reference campgrounds against swap meet locations and find your campgrounds that way. (This page is woefully out of date -- but I have the 2008 guides sitting on my desk waiting for reviews).

    Happy Planning!

Default I'm not real familiar with where swap meets are

But I agree with Mark that college towns might be a good place to sell instruments.

Portland has, of course, several colleges, and it also has a terrific outdoor market called Saturday Market. Why I don't know, as it's also open on Sundays.

Eugene, OR, has the University of Oregon and several other colleges as well. And it has a really fun public market as well.

Ashland and Bend are both college areas and I would imagine that they would have open air markets, too. Astoria only has a smaller community college but it does have a great ourdoor market. My son's future mother-in-law makes the drive there each Sunday to sell her soy candles and does very well there.

However, I have no idea if any of these allow short-term vendors.
