Boston to Miami

My friend and I are coming over from England in July for 2 weeks and are hoping to drive from Boston to Miami.
We have family in Boston and South Carolina and would like to visit them, apart from that we can go anywhere!
If anyone can suggest a nice, scenic route with lively nightlife, that will be safe for 2 ladies we would welcome all suggestions!

From the description of your preferred travel mode, it sounds like a trip down the Atlantic coast would fill your needs. During summer, the coastal towns are teeming with night life and the drive is quite scenic most of the time. From Boston to New York, a couple of towns you might want to look into are Newport, RI and Mystic, CT. After New York, you have to decide whether you'd rather head down the coast proper, or stay inland a bit and follow I-95 to see the historic, and bustling cities of Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington and Richmond. If you'd rather see the coast, then head down the Garden State Parkway along the New Jersey shore to Cape May, take the ferry over to Lewes, DE and then drive down the Delaware shore on DE-1 to Ocean City, MD. From there US-113 and US-13 will take you to the unique Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and Norfolk. You can also get to Norfolk via I-64 from Richmond if you've come that way. Next head for the Outer Banks of North Carolina and enjoy the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Even if you're not into history, you might be intrigued by a visit to the first English colony in the New World on Roanoke Island. At the southern end of the Outer Banks you'll catch a ferry from Okracoke to Cedar Island to continue your journey down the coast on US-17. The next big resort town is Myrtle Beach, SC and then it's on to Charleston which is a great town to explore, full of southern charm, as is the next city on the way south, Savannah, GA. Much of the Georgia coast is barrier islands reachable only by ferries, but once you get to Florida, it's a nearly continuous succession of beach towns all the way down to Miami.
