...And a preliminary congratulations to George for his triumphant TPP achievement. George is actually the most recent acting dcTPP (Which is also known as the official Darn Close -- Tioga Pass Prognosticator).
Just waiting for the official YNP report.

Confirmation.
Yosemite have now updated the official opening and closures page and confirmed what we already knew. The official opening date for the Spring 2013 contest was Saturday May 11th.
George's prognostication might have been aided and influenced by a post made by Dermeta in an article about the likely opening of the pass -- but that's just speculation now....And, more importantly -- all's fair in this contest -- Prognosticators are empowered to use whatever tools they have when predicting this date each year.
George was actually the dcTPP having nearly predicted the opening date last year!

That's a nice gesture George, but as the rightful winner of the competition, I think it's your decision to make in these somewhat unusual circumstances.

you are very kind to think that.
I just found the information, but I didn't have the expertises to call a decision based on some info on the net. I won't complain if glc decides to split his award, but he is not obliged to do so, as i chose another date.
I will definitely post a review and some pics from the trip, as I am flying to NY on Wednesday, and leaving for SF on Saturday.
