4 day roadtrip: Cincinnati to Nashville

Hi!
I'm going on a spur-of-the-moment mini-road trip with some pals to Nashville. Starting in Cincinnati, OH, we'll have about 3 days to get there. If anyone has any advice or tips about interesting back roads, cool spots that are not too far out of the way, lakes or rivers that we could check out along the way, kitschy flea markets, etc. I would really appreciate it! The itinerary is pretty loose so and we have plenty of time to veer off our route; but my car is pretty old so I don't want to push it TOO far, ya know?

Cincinnati to Nashville can be driven in about four hours, so three days gives you plenty of time to wander well off the beaten path and to spend some serious quality time at some of the great attractions in that neck of the woods. Just a short list of what's possible would include Mammoth Cave National Park, the Land Between the Lakes and the Woodlands Trace, Lincoln's birthplace and boyhood home along the Lincoln Heritage Scenic Highway, the Red River Gorge Scenic Highway and the Wilderness Road Heritage Highway. You can even hook a bit south of Nashville and travel the Natchez Trace down toward the Shiloh Battlefield and then come back through Lynchburg and enjoy - if you're all old enough - the Jack Daniels Distillery.
