  1. Default Planning 4th of July roadtrip from nashville, TN

I am planning a four day roundtrip roadtrip for my friend and I leaving from Nashville, TN on Friday and returning back to Nashville on Monday night. We are looking to either go north or west. Any suggestions or routes that anyone has been on? We are pretty adventorous and would like to stay off the beaten path. I'm just a little overwhelmed at all of the possibilities right now and could use some advice on routes and stops along the way.

Default Go West (and North). Young Man

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

You simply don't have to choose between going west or going north, do both and make it a loop trip. You could, for example head up through the Land Between the Lakes and the forests of southern Illinois to follow the Great River Road north into Iowa and then turn east to start back home through the numerous sites associated with Abraham Lincoln in central and eastern Illinois, and finish off with a visit to Mammoth Cave. I wouldn't try to go too much farther afield than that, or you'd just be spending all your time in the car rather than having adventures.
