  1. Default NYC, Dallas, Chicago and back

    Hi people,
I am considering a NYC, BHM, Dallas, Chicago, NYC road trip with 2 adults and 2 (healthy) seniors (2 drivers) to go visit family in 12 days. The purpose of the trip is really to visit friends and family, but would love to drive through interesting places on our way there.
I anticipate <8 hrs driving on most days with a couple of 12 hour drives followed by a days rest at our people's places.
I'll be driving a 2010 SUV with 1500 mi on it.
If we do have time, I would love to spend a day in a cottage/bed and breakfast off the highway.

    Does this sound realistic?

    Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

You'll have a busy 12 days, but it certainly is possible. Its 2 days of driving to Birmingham, A long (12 hour minimum) drive to Dallas, 2 days to Chicago, and then a day and a half to NYC.

So basically, 7 of your days are already spoken for, and that's if you are sticking to the interstates.

One thing to note about your B&B plan, that's certainly possible, but it is something you should set up in advance. They tend to be set up more for getaway destination, more than a quick night off the highway, and as such, they often aren't located right off a highway. You'll have to do a little research about what might be along the way and likely set that stop up in advance.
