    Default Richford NY to Santa Barbara CA 2nd week of Jan

    Hi all:

    I'm going to be driving from upstate NY to Santa Barbara CA approximately the second week of January, and I need to do the drive in as few days as possible. I'd really appreciate any advice on route planning, because I'd like to avoid any inclement weather - I don't have any experience driving in snow and do not want to start now. The shortest route seems to cut through a lot of the midwestern snow regions. Is my best bet heading straight down south from NY, then cutting across the southern states?
