  1. Default Upstate SC to Gettysburg PA

I will be traveling to Gettysburg PA from the upstate of South Carolina 5-30 thru 6-4. We will be going I-26 to I-81 and into PA.

I will be traveling with mother who is in a wheelchair and has limited vision. I planned to travel up in one day. It is an 8 hour trip and I am allowing 12 hours of travel with plenty of stops and long breaks.

Is there any interesting short stops that are suitable for the handicap?

    Default Time Will be Fleeting

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

I don't think you'll have quite as much time for stops as you think, but still, a couple of short excursions out of the car are in order. One would be Hungry Mother State Park which has wheelchair accessible facilities and a paved walk around a lake. Next, perhaps for lunch, would be the town of Lexington, VA which is just a pleasant, historic college town to wander and enjoy. Then, if you have time before sunset, take an alternate route into Gettysburg by leaving I-81 at Winchester, VA and using US-340 through Harpers Ferry to Frederick, MD and then US-15 up to Gettysburg.
