Hi,
We are planning to drive from Houston to Yellow Stone around Christmas time. We have always lived in TX and never driven in winter conditions. We'll gladly accept any suggestions.
Thanks
Rod

Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !
From Houston to Yellowstone is around 1700 miles and without weather disruption should be a minimum of a 3-4 day drive. Nobody can predict the weather this far in advance so check the forecasts before leaving and take the most direct route that looks unlikely to have weather disruption. Interstates are a priority to clear and keep the country moving but give yourself enough time so that if a winter storm occurs you can simply pull off the road and let the crews do there job and clear the road.
Hopefully you realise that most of Yellowstone is not accessible this time of year unless you have snowmobiles or the like. You may also be required to carry snow chains which is advisable anyway. You can find details on the web site.
Here you can find Winter driving tips, but if you have any more specific questions just ask.
If you have never driven in winter conditions, I'd recommend you make Yellowstone a summer trip. If you are looking for a Christmas vacation, I'd go somewhere else!
As Dave said, even if you get into the park, you can't go anywhere without snowmobiles or cross country skis, and very few services are open.
