  1. Default Central Iowa to somewhere

Hi! I'm thinking about going on a trip to some place interesting but don't know what's out there. I'm thinking south. I've been to the badlands twice and want to avoid big cities and most interstates if possible. I don't know how far I want to go, maybe a three day trip. Just some kooky stuff would be fun, maybe somewhere famous for something odd or especially good. The midwest is really boring from what I've seen.

Default I Had a Much Different Experience

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

Well, clearly I disagree with you about the Midwest. And actually, something similar to that trip may appeal to you. Northern Wisconsin is within a day's drive of central Iowa, would entail using mostly non-Interstate highways (e.g. US-151), has kooky (Circus World Museum in Baraboo) as well as especially good (Apostle Islands), and even your choice of two Great Lakes.
