San Francisco in January 2008

My wife and I are spending 4 days in San Francisco from the 16th to 20th January 2008 and then have to be in Los Angeles on the 29th January.

What are our options at this time of year? we will hire a car for that period.

Can we

1. Drive North to Fort Bragg on the coast road
2. What abour Napa Valley, Sonoma etc at that time of year
3. Yosemite Park... Is it accessible at that time of year.
4. Coast road from SF to LA..suggestions for overnight/daily stops.
5. What other areas should we see/ avoid at that time of year

Wife loves historic places etc and walking tours of Cities.

Any help would be appreciated.

With 9 days at your disposal, you certainly could do a mix of any and all of those really great options.

I might leave out the option to go north along the coast, only because its the opposite direction of where you want to end up. Instead, you could head to Napa, spend a day or two there. Head to the Yosemite Valley for another couple days, and then head back to the coast, and work your way down to LA.

This time of year shouldn't really restrict you at all for this trip. The Yosemite Valley is a wonderful place to visit in the Winter, and since you won't need to worry about Tioga Pass, it would be unlikely that you'd run into any closures.
