Fastest Route from Los Angeles to NY City

I'm moving a car from Los Angeles to Central NY with another driver who lives in NY City (and possibly a 3rd driver), but I only have a 3-day weekend to do it because I can't take time off from work.
Do you think this is possible? Should I stay on I-80 for as long as possible? How do I get information on different highways' speed limits? Any suggestions / comments?

It can be done, I have done it. But you need to drive 23+ hours per day. Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum! Read these tips about speed runs and please reconsider this plan!

Hi,

I have driven from northwest Washington to NJ in 3 1/2 days. It was very tough and not much fun. Remember also, you will lose an hour each day due to the time zone changes. Too bad it wasn't east to west, at least you gain an hour per day. You should try to allow at least 1 more day. Good luck and be safe.
