    Default Make it your trip.

Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !

To get started you really need to do some research and look at the maps and see what appeals to you and once you have a couple of places you can look at how to fill in the gaps in, and we would be happy to help with that, but right now we have next to nothing to work with and options would run into thousands. Info such as whether or not this is a round trip or one way, how long you like to spend on the road and what you consider 'unusual' will also help greatly. If Bethlehem is home, have you considered flying west and starting your trip elsewhere ? The great appeal of the road trip is to get to go where you want at the pace you want and not to simply go where someone has planned for you, make it your own. Once you get started we can answer specific questions and make suggestions along your chosen route, so let the planning begin, it's a fun part of the trip as a whole !

I can't but agree with everything Dave advised you to do. In fact, here is a paragraph which might help you further.....

Those are your essential tool in any RoadTrip planning process. Start by marking all the places you know you want to visit. Then connect the dots. Then look for more places of interest and scenic routes along the lines connecting the dots. Repeat until you've got as many sites and roads as you think you want.
Good maps may be got from AAA - free if you are a member - or if you prefer, get a road atlas such as Rand McNally. Most States also publish free maps. The PA one in particular is full of detail on places to go and sites to see. As mentioned a little research will point you to those things of particular interest to your family.

I would venture to say that the 11 year old would be glad to do some of it for you.
