  1. Default Monterey to Yellowstone

Hello! My boyfriend and I are doing a roadtrip beginning in LA and ending all the way in Cleveland. We are doing Hwy 1 up to Monterey but we need some advice after that. Here is the schedule of our nights, but we are looking for back road/scenic routes to take. I have been reading the threads but couldn't find this exact trip. Here it its:

Monterey to Napa ( for 3 days )
Napa to Yosemite or Tahoe (whichever is a better route)
Tahoe to Boise (or somewhere around there)
    Boise to Jackson Hole
    Jackson to Yellowstone
    Yellowstone to Cheyenne

Any beautiful routes you can reccomend?
Any hotel and restaurant reccomendations welcome too. HELP!

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

Since you've got a pretty big trip in front of you, it might pay to take a step back and define your goals a bit more. How much time do you have for your entire trip? What are your plans from Cheyanne to Cleveland? What do you hope to get out of this trip?

I think you've got a good start, the legs you've laid out are feasable - but there is a lot more in between that you could also explore. It just depends upon what you are looking for.

Default Do you have business in Boise?

Boise is a lovely, small city. However, I see no reason to go there to get to Jackson. I'd bypass it and go through Twin Falls instead.

Yosemite is one of the highest rate, most loved parks in the country so, while Tahoe is also quite lovely, I think the Yosemite route, then going over Tioga Pass would be your best bet.

It would be far easier to advise you if we know how many days you have for this trip, what kinds of things you hope to see and do, etc. I can think of tons of things to suggest but I don't know if you have the time. So help us help you a bit, OK?

Thank you both! We have 10 days to do this trip. We aren't planning on seeing much from Cheyenne to Cleveland. Cheyenne looked like a cool city and we are visiting people in Omaha. We don't have to stay any of these other places if there are better options and are just looking to enjoy the drive and scenery. We have one night in each place, except for Jackson Hole which will be 2 ( we will use those days to see Jackson and Yellowstone ). I guess we are looking for driving route recommendations and any cool places to stop. Does this help? THANKS!
