It seems that the inspiration for Mater (the tow truck) came from a place along old 66 in SE Kansas, just across the state line from you, GLC. I think it's in Baxter Springs, right?

A little story about how we came to see Cahokia Mounds: Back in 1993, my husband and I had a road trip planned to Washington DC. His parents wanted to keep the kids, who were too young to really get much appreciation for the springs, and we were coming up on a wedding anniversary. So one morning, we left mid-Missouri early in our 1987 Ford Aerostar, heading east.

We discovered I-270 on that trip, but it was also the year of the Big Flood on the MS and MO Rivers. We had just crossed the state line/river into Illinois and were admittedly looking around at all the water -- and a van had been going waaaaay too slow for the freeway. I remember screaming "LOOK OUT!" and we went right into the back of that van as my husband braked HARD. Next thing I knew (I blacked out), we were in the median strip with the other van and there was a policeman taking down the information, getting us into an ambulance. Long story short, we were okay except a bit dazed, the van we hit had a passenger who broke his arm (not wearing his seat belt and he went into the dash, he was lucky and so were we). Our insurance company took good care of us, got us a rental car, and instead of going on to DC, we canceled our DC plans, spent a couple of days poking around the Granite City IL area, and then went back to pick up our girls as we only had a week to get back home. That's when we went to Cahokia Mounds, and a STL Cardinals baseball game.

OK, here we go. Where am I?

One hint for now: eastern part of the US.

    Donna,

Your picture links are going to your Flickr account instead of just one picture. You might want to edit that. I didn't leave the links to the picture on the quote. Since it went to your Flickr account I know where it's at. We've been once when it was pouring!

    P. S. If my pictures are going to my Flickr account would you please let me know.

Updating: I see that it does go to my Utahtea Flickr account and have made sure that all my other pictures I don't want to share are private. And note to self...make sure I don't label any of the pictures....LOL!

I guessed where that is before I looked at your Flickr. Suggestion - simply remove the links.

I noticed that the text after the picture is missing BUT when I hit Donna's picture it still takes me to her Flickr page where I can see all 31 pages of her pictures. The only pictures on my Flickr set to public are the ones I put here. All the rest of mine are now set to private.

Hmmmm.....wonder why it did THAT? It has never done that before.

OK, yes. Gettysburg. Easy enough ... I chose that because we're in the process of watching the History Channel mini-series GRANT, and one of the shows that ran just before or after the mini-series episode was one called "Gettysburg". The trick was trying to get photos without any of the memorials - statues or buildings!

Testing this one, to see if it comes up to my whole account or to the actual picture. Someone please let me know? Thanks. (Maybe when I was trying to hide the "Gettysburg" label on the photo, I deleted too much. Oops. See if this helps.)

    Donna:

When I click on the picture, I go right to your whole Flickr account (all 31 pages). I think UtahTea is on the right track--there must be a way to distinguish public from private pictures. I've never used Flickr, so I'm not sure what's required, but I'm sure it's simple enough.

Default What do all these have in common???

A little take-off on the "where am I". All three of these pictures have a commonality to them. Can anyone guess?

All photos were obtained by a road trip of some sort. Try it now. I don't put the photo label in there at all. Don't click on the photo.
