December only produced 5 inches of snow in total and averaged 47F for the month which is 7F above normal. Looking at the High sierra webcam, it doesn't seem as though it would have taken much to keep the Tioga Pass open with only 5 inches of snow recorded in Tuolumne Meadows. Budget restrictions and ice probably being more of a problem than snow. There is snow in the forecast this week, which I am sure will be welcome as we don't want to return to drought conditions after just one good year of percipitation.
