Topeka to Las Vegas is almost 1300 miles, so you MUST do at LEAST one overnight, preferably 2. Two days of 650 miles is over and above what commercial truckers are allowed to do, and very exhausting, so I would make two days of 500 miles and one day of 300 miles, arriving on the third day of driving. \
I'm not sure what you mean about places that are dangerous. If you drive safely, keep aware of your surroundings, and use the same strategies that you do at home to stay safe, you should be find. If something doesn't look or feel right, it probably isn't, so you will find yourself leaving those areas, which are usually in a bad area of a city.
How long do you plan to stay in Las Vegas? You will need 6 days of the 10 for driving, so it doesn't leave you much time to stop anywhere along the way if you are going to be in Las Vegas for 4 days.
One idea would be to take one route to get to Las Vegas and another one to return.
But to give you more information, we'd really need to know where you are starting/ending in Kansas, and how much time you plan to be IN Las Vegas, plus a little bit about your interests.
