Default Denver - Seattle with the dog

    Hi Everyone!
My husband, our 16 year old son and our 1 year old Labradoodle are planning a RT from Denver to Seattle and back this summer. We haven't settled on a date, but we are focusing on June. We have 14 days to do this.
-We must travel no more than 8 hours per day.
-We need dog friendly over-night places to stay.
-We will be driving a Honda Pilot.
-We have family in Seattle, so we need to have a few days there.
-We also would like to go through Cour d' Alene, Idaho on our way back to Denver.
    -We want scenic routes.
    -We don't want to rush.
    -We like brewery tours.
We are open for ideas and suggestions.

    Welcome to RTA!

At just over 1300 miles, to do one-way trip at only 8 hours a day, you need to have about 3-1/2 days to travel there. To return through Coeur d'Alene, you'll need about the same amount of time. So there's 7 of your 14 days.

Dog-friendly places to stay: my cousin swears by Motel 6 as being the most consistently dog-friendly chain. La Quinta as well, though they aren't "just everywhere". The rest are hit-and-miss. If you look at the "Search Road Trip Motels" side bar on this page, you can search for pet-friendly hotels in the cities where you plan to stay.

Do you have paper maps or a road atlas? If you're a member of AAA, you can get free maps. Or go to your nearest big box store or book store and pick up a road atlas. Planning will be a lot easier to view than on a computer or GPS screen.

Default Scenic routes and boutique breweries.

When you get your maps, as advised above, you will see the scenic routes highlighted with little dots.

Research each place through which these routes go, and see which ones have boutique breweries. They seem to be scattered all over the place.
