Road trip circle of the south east

Hi there , myself husband and 5 year son r flying to Orlando next week. I have a plan but also a few gaps :/ I'd love if anyone could give me a few pointers :) it wud help me a lot :) we have 18 days here is my plan so far :)
Drive from airport say a night Daytona beach
Day 2 drive to savanagh ( what to see along the way ) stay the night !
Day 3 stay savannah
Day 4 drive to Charlotte stay night
Day 5 no idea
Day 6 no idea
Day 7 booked cabin in gatlingberg
Day 8 cabin Gatlingberg
Day 9 Nashville
Day 10 memphis
Day 11 memphis
Day 12 no idea
Day 13 no idea
Day 14 no idea
Day 15 no idea :/
Day 16 / 17 / 18 Orlando 4 kidz stuff :)
Wud love any input that anyone may have on this we r 30 and interests r history nice scenes ect I know I have left this really last minute :/ :/

Welcome to the RTA Forum!

Between Savannah and Charlotte (anything specific you're hoping to see there btw?) I would look at adding in a day in Charleston. At the very least, a trip out to Fort Sumter would be worth the trip, although there is plenty of other history in that city too.

I'd also look at driving at least part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, although be aware, a section of the highway between Mount Mitchell and Asheville is currently closed because of a major failure of the road surface.

There are also tons of potential Civil War History sites all over your possible routes. For example between Nashville and Memphis you could visit Shilo or Fort Donaldson (which also is next to Land Between the Lakes Recreation area). Or south of Memphis, you could follow either the River Road or Nachez Trace Parkway, and make your way towards Vicksburg.

New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast would have plenty more potential stopping points as you head back towards Orlando.

hi yeah thanks for the reply :) it is Charlestown instead of Charlotte sorry dont know what i was thinking :) was kinda thinking of heading from Memphis to birmingham to tellahasse t?o orlando? would there anynice stops around these parts. We dont have to stay in these exact places !!! but we do have to make up a few hours driving to get back to orlando by the 18 :) think i have bitten off alot in this trip ! we are travelling from ireland so i wanted to take in as much as i can :) wud you know where to stop between charlestown and gatlinburg i have 2 nights free before we check in to the cabin i have booked in the mountains :) cant wait now :) :)
