Toronto to Winnipeg

Hello everyone,

I am spending a year in Canada doing a bit of work and some travel. Right now I am staying in Barrie, but I will move on to do some ranch work in the area around Winnipeg.
If anyone could help me out with a ride from Toronto to Winnipeg, I could see a lot of the beautiful northern Ontario landscape und escape the suburbs of Barrie. I will start working in Winnipeg on the Oct. 8., so I need a ride during the first week of October. Of course I will pay my share on the gas.

Out of curiosity, do you have a passport so you can travel with someone who might be taking the trip by going through the States, or are you limited to traveling through Canada?

I have an open work permit, and as a German citizen luckily the permit does not expire once I leave the country, so I could travel through the states.

I think you would still have to apply in advance to enter the US through the visa waiver program.
