Trip on East Coast with 4 year old son and his grannies

Hi

we have about 10 days to make a round trip from DE/PA to Savannah, GA in April 2012

I am thinking about one route there and another back - mountains and inland one way... coast the other.

Any ideas of itineraries / stopping places?

I want to avoid the I95. I am thinking that must-sees are: Charleston, Smokey Mountains and some of the Blue ridge parkway, Charlotte and Monticello, Williamsburg and the coast (VA and the Carolinas).
