Planning a RoadTrip From Vancouver, B.C. To California 2012

Hey!

I just signed up so I am a bit new with this. Looking for some pointers and help with planning a surprise roadtrip to California from Vancouver, with my boyfriend. I want to go late summer to early spring as I know things start to die down a bit when school is about to start. Im thinking I would like to go for 3 weeks give or take a bit. I do not want to spend outrageous amounts of money but I know it will cost a pretty penny none the less.

Where do I start?!?! hahaha

Places or attractions that are a must see?

Any places to avoid?

Any help of any sort would be great!

The first place to start is to figure out where you want to go and what you want to see. California is a big and extremely diverse place. Do you want to see the cities like SF, LA, and San Diego. Do you want to spend your time on the coast or the beach? Do you want to explore national parks like Death Valley, Sequoia, and Yosemite? Do you just want to explore CA, or do you want to check out Washington and Oregon along the way? There are lots of choices, and no generic "must sees."

Once you have an idea of your priorities, then you can start putting a plan together, and we'll be in a better position to assist you in fine tuning that plan into your perfect roadtrip.
