  1. Default Dallas to Colorado Springs

We are headed to Colorado Springs from Dallas in late July-a permanent move, but only will have a vehicle and luggage, not our household goods-

We are planning on spreading the trip out over at least 3-4 days, as we haven't traveled long distances for a couple of years, and we have kids! (9 year old boy and 7 year old girl ) :) We don't mind spending the night in the same area twice if there is an all day thing we would like to do. It's sort of a mini-one way-vacation
    My questions are these:

    1. What are some family friendly things to do along the way? National Parks, ect....(but they have to be wheelchair friendly!)

    2. Is there any thing interesting, out of the ordinary or things we just shouldn't miss along the way? Historical value, ect?

    Thanks for the help!

    Default Some Kid Friendly Stops

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

In Amarillo, there's the educational Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, and the just plain fun Cadillac Ranch (grafitti encouraged). Then northwest of Amarillo, is Capulin Volcano National Monument where you can drive to the top of an extinct volcano and walk the entirely paved Crater Rim Trail all the way around. Also be sure (as at every National Park, Monument, Historic Site, etc.) to ask about their Junior Ranger Program. Another nearby combination of scenery and history is Sugarite Canyon State Park. And there's more history at an accessible scale at the Trinidad History Museum. Then in Pueblo, there's the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum, the Pueblo Zoo, and the Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center and Museum, as well as nearby Royal Gorge

Another is the Sand Dunes National Park, near Alamosa CO. As well as the Royal Gorge Bridge, there is also the train trip through the gorge.
