No Fee for Underage Car Rental

Hertz is offering a deal that waives the typical $25 underage fee for 21-24 year old renters through the end of September, 2011. You just need the Promo Code 144314 when making the reservation. More details on their website.

Can't think of another time I've seen that on a large scale basis, but certainly it could make for a good deal for anyone under 25 looking to do a roadtrip this summer!

Also, doesn't Hertz usually roll a one-way dropoff into the rental rate?

Just for everyone's information, and because we occasionally get questions about the relative worth of different rental firms, let's review the state of the corporate structure in rental car companies. Enterprise owns National and Alamo. Avis owns Budget and is seeking to acquire Dollar/Thrifty which is one company.

Very true - although it should also be pointed out that just because Avis and Budget are owned by the same company for example, it doesn't mean the two have the same rates or rental policies.

Hertz does typically include the one way fee right within the rental rate. It doesn't however, mean that they are any better or cheaper, its just something that has to be factored in when shopping around to make sure you are comparing apples to apples.
