  1. Default ISO awesome places for places for photography & more

Hi all! I'm leaving very soon on a roadtrip. I haven't really planned anything, so I'm really hoping you all can help. All I know is that I have 8 days, I'm leaving from Tampa, Fl and I'm heading North until I get out of the state... then it's wherever my car takes me. I'm completely open to all ideas & suggestions. The purpose is to see & photograph as much as I can in the time I have.Landmarks, landscapes, structures, architecture, culture...all of it.

I should also mention that I'm skipping Florida and don't plan to stop until I'm over the border, I've lived here all my life and want to capture life outside the peninsula. The only definite destination I have is TN... how I get there and how I get home is wide open.... maybe even as far north as Chicago.. maybe NOLA.. maybe Texas..? You tell me.

I'm doing this all on a very small budget too... so I welcome tips on nice/clean/inexpensive/SAFE lodging (single girl, traveling alone = safety first!!), good places to eat, etc... I'll even take advice on what places to stay away from! Please & thank you :)

Big THANKS in advance for any hints, tips, suggestions on destinations, sights, hotels and whatever else you can come up with!!

    Default Make it yours.

Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !

As for where to go ? Well the Roadtrip is special in the fact that it is an individual thing and you get to choose where you go, and with 8 day's there are thousands upon thousands of possibilities. I wouldn't try and cover so much ground that you don't get to enjoy the places that you visit along the way. Sometimes the best plan is to have no plan at all, except one that will allow you enough time to get home. A loop that would have you spending half your day's driving and half enjoying the other side of a road trip [exploring] would be New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, [Great Smokey mountains] Savannah and home.

Here are some budgeting tips [be sure to check out the other link at the beginning of thread] and another article on travelling solo.

You will find everything you need to know by digging around the site a little and if you have other questions, just ask.

Thanks Dave! I appreciate the info and will definitely spend some time going through all the stuff the site has to offer.

NOLA & Knoxville are good possibilities for me... I've been to Nashville a few times before. I plan on spending some time in Chattanooga. I have familial roots there and am anxious to see where my story began. Savannah was also another spot I was considering. I hear it's beautiful and full of stories... but I'm having trouble deciding between there and Charleston. Any +/- between the two?

    Thanks again!
