Cool places on the way

Me and a friend are going from Minneapolis to Austin Texas.
I was wondering if their was anyone who has made this ride before who could tell me of some cool or interesting places on the way.I think most of it is on I-35 so if any one knows anything id appreciate the help

There are a couple of great things to see in Oklahoma City: 1) The memorial at the site of the federal building explosion; 2) the Cowboy Hall of Fame and old west museum. Both are excellent.

You might concider the Amana Colonies if you like a different quaint setting. These seven colonies would be reached if you take 218 of of I-35 through Waterloo and continuing on 380 down to I-80. Then near Iowa City you would find these little German communities all within a few miles of each other. You can check it out at http://amanacolonies.com/welcome/index.html.

A couple of fun places not too far off of I-35: The Spam Museum in Austin, MN. Its only about 40 minutes out of your way round trip.

Also near I-35 is my all-time favorite roadside attraction: The Glore Psyciatric Museum in St. Joe Missouri. It features tons of bizare, interesting, and twisted things from the 150 year history of the state lunatic asylum. Its actually off I-29, but the detour from I-35 isn't too far and I'd guess it would only add 30 minutes or so of driving to your trip.
