    Cheers for the advice, I will take it all on board.
    I'm genuinely concerned with underestimating the time it will take from these places. The distances are so vast and my experience is small that I can't be getting these duration too wrong. 2days between DC and Atlanta sounds about right, of course I will probably want a break from driving to see things too.

    Thank you for the specific routes, I'll be sure to search for them on my USA map!

    As for things to see and enjoy, I am particularly interested in some of the old Civil War forts if there are any still standing?
