Music Road Trip: Austin to Miami to New York

In the middle of planning a huge road trip with some buddies for three weeks. We are starting in Austin mid March for the South by South West Film and Music Festival, then heading to Miami Florida for the Winter Music Conference, then driving north to Manhattan.

We are planning a huge driving trip and are way over our heads. We have no idea where to stop along the way and what to see while on the road. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's not easy to make suggestions as we don't know how what date you are due in Miami and how much time you have to spare travelling between each location, plus nothing of your interests, well other than Film and music ! ;-)

With music in mind, perhaps New Orleans might appeal and with it being just over 500 miles from Austin could be done in a long day on the road. We don't recommend travelling much more than that per day to keep things comfortable so you would be looking at a minimum of 2.5 days for each leg to and from Miami.

With that in mind I would sit down with your mates and a good map and look for places of interest that you agree upon and then search the forums for more info. When you have done so and you feel like you need a little help "fine tuning" your trip, just ask.

Don't be too blinkered either, for instance if you had 5 or 6 days or more from Austin to Miami then Memphis and down through Tupelo [birth place of Elvis] could appeal.

You should continue your road trip and visit buffalo. you could even go through the Adirondacks. Buffalo is a beautiful city and is full of wonderful people. if your planning a road trip of that caliber you should keep going. i hope that you have fun!
