i am planning a trip in april 2010 to southern texas from chicago, i am abe to take a month off for this trip would like to see sites along the way. so far i am planning to stop in memphis would love to visit beale st.

A month is a whole heck of a lot of time for a trip like this, and you certainly would have plenty of time for some detours, to places quite aways from the direct route. Since seeing "the sites" doesn't tell us much, what sorts of things are you interested in seeing and doing?

So little information about you! What kind of things do you like to do? What kind of things would you rather not do? You could take the trip back and forth a few times in that time frame, so you've got a lot of days with which to wander East or West from the beaten path. So you'll be looking forward to Beale Street. Are you a blues fan? You could "theme" the trip if you wanted, with Delta, Memphis, and Chicago blues and visit some of the key spots related to that, Texas blues being right in your starting state.
