Maybe I'll take a trip to Duluth or Wis Dells for a weekend, but a long vacation will not occur.

Thanks to those members who helped me along.
Being a grown up isn't always fun, but you've made the right choice here. Between being laid off, moving back home, and anticipating educational debt soon, an expensive trip wasn't a good option. The road isn't going anywhere, and tough times don't last. You'll be able to take the trip you envision one day, and when you do, you won't have feelings of regret because you'll know that you really can afford it.

I really appreciate it. I think I am going to take a 2-weekday trip to Duluth after tax season, which will be relatively cheap. I love the environment, the lake, and the scenery there.

I've always dreamed of seeing the country by road, I was hoping the time was now before I got too busy with school/loans/etc.

For those of you in better situations than myself taking trips this summer, take lots of pictures and post them. I'll look forward to the stories and advice afterwards.
