NY to CA I need advice

Hi everyone, I need to get to Los Angeles from New York by February 9th.
Im working on a very low budget. Id like to stay at campsites as much as i can. Whats the best, warmest,camping friendly, scenic route. whats the minimum time I should allot for this trip. I'd appreciate any suggestions or tips.

Minimum 5 days. Your best route for a possibility of warmth, also avoiding a lot of tolls, without going way out of your way, would be I-78/I-81/I-40/I-15. I can't answer for being camping-friendly.

Along the route suggested above, almost every town has at least one campground, as have most State parks.

Camping USA is a good place to start. If you google different States and towns, you are bound to find more.
