Default Another possible road trip destination: Dubois, Wyoming

We received another press release today for a road trip attraction that might appeal to you.

The Grand Opening of the National Museum of Military Vehicles will be on May 28, 2022.

Here is the information from the press release:

The museum was privately funded by Dan and Cynthia Starks and is located in one of the best small towns in America: Dubois, Wyoming.

The world-class military history experience occupies 140,000 square feet and features more than 500 fully-restored military vehicles, artillery pieces, naval vessels and aircraft dating from 1897 to the present. We’re talking tanks, jeeps, troop trucks, halftracks, helicopters, motorcycles and more. All in pristine condition.

The current emphasis is on the American experience in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. While often seen, but overlooked the goal of the museum is to tell the stories of how these vehicles were used and to remember the valor of service members who fought, and many died, in them.

The museum, located 8 miles southeast of Dubois, Wyoming (outside of Jackson and Yellowstone National Park), along U.S. Highway 26, and also houses a large, historically significant, firearms collection including include a revolver once owned by Wyatt Earp, a model 1873 Winchester owned by the Lakota War Chief Rain-in-the-Face who fought in the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876 also known as Custer’s Last Stand, and a machine gun in a briefcase.

The display also contains General Patton’s .45 sidearm and the entire Winchester firearms collection from 1866-1966.

The collection is the personal passion of Dan Starks, the former CEO of St. Jude.
