Planing road trip from LA - Destination unknown !

Hi ppl !
I i am thinking of going out on thanks giving week-end for 4 days ! A round trip on wheels ! It wont be in RV !
I am not sure which way to go !
Hows the trip along the coast up north towards seattle ?
Or any other better option toeards east ?
Please suggest !

Brad, the open-ended roadtrip is our favorite kind. There is so much to do and see on the west coast, but as a suggestion -- consider a trip to the eastern outback of Oregon. Hotsprings, few people, amazing vistas and relatively undiscovered.
