Did we already know this? US50 over Echo Summit to close for repairs

Going to close for two weeks starting a week from today. Will be impacted one way or another for a longer period.

I just got through making a post, suggesting US-50 was open -- No problems...

Oh my - that could jam up 88 with a lot of traffic, especially if the other passes are still closed. The OFFICIAL detour should really be I-80.

Is SR-88 a truck route? Both sides of the pass are a bit steep for trucks. It is hard to imagine using SR-88 as a detour for US-50!

If you read Cal's link, 88 is the detour to go to and from Tahoe. I'm sure that site is oriented towards car drivers, and the tourism aspect is being promoted.

I don't know that Echo Summit was ever that popular with trucks, but can't say I ever paid that much attention.
