  1. Default Toronto to Rosemary Beach

    Hello everyone!
This is the first time I am using the forum for planning my road trips. I am driving down to Florida at the end of September. For the first day we are going to Lexington, Kentucky. We usually drive down i 75 all the way. I have gone through West Virgina and I don't want to go through that way this time. My question today is are there any scenic routes or mini road trips from Toronto to Kentucky? When we drive back we are going up i65 (Nashville and Louisville). So I would like to only look at scenic byways around Lexington for the way down. I read about highway 68 is that a good detour? Even a small detour off the i75 that will loop back around to Lexington would be appreciated. We are crossing the boarder at Detroit around 9 am (it's an hour less than driving through Niagara falls) But if coming down from Erie is a good drive than I'm up for suggestions from Erie down to Columbus and over to Dayton. I hope this isn't confusing. Thank you for any help you can give me for the first leg of my trip!

    Welcome to RTA!

Toronto to Lexington via fastest route is 570 miles, and is right at the limit of what can be safely driven in 1 day. This does use I-75 all the way from Detroit. Going through Buffalo and using I-90 to I-71 to Cincinnati is 620 miles and would really be pushing it safely in 1 day, you wouldn't go through Dayton. There really aren't any other routes that I would recommend for 1 day, but if you are willing to take a day and a half, you can take something else.

The fastest route to Rosemary Beach can JUST be driven in 2 days, that would be I-75 to Cincy, I-71 to Louisville, I-65 to Montgomery, US-231 to Troy, AL-87 to Elba, US-84 to Opp, US-331 to US-98, overnight in Louisville.

Scenic routes and detours are marked on all good maps, such as those from AAA (CAA) or a good road atlas such as Rand McNally. They normally have a dotted line along them. These are things you never see on a little screen.

Good maps are invaluable when planning a trip, and essential when on the road. Don't be tempted to rely solely on your electronics. Many have done so at their peril, some fatal.

I am confident you will find multiple scenic routes to take you off the interstates. Having travelled this way multiple times, In OH check out 230 through Urichsville. Of coaurse there are multiple scenic routes in FL.
