Default Road trip from CT to Florida...in December

I'm brand new to RTA. Our family is planning a road trip to Florida in December. There will be 8 adults and 2 small kids(3 & 5). We will be staying in Florida for a week. Has anyone made this trip or something similar. Any suggestions for places we should stop at on the way. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank You so much.

Default Depending on Your Time and Interests

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

If you have the bare minimum amount of time for the drive down (2˝ days depending on where in CT and FL your termini are), then you'll have to pretty much stick to I-95, but if you can add a day or two to your journey down, and/or back, then you can start to look at other options.

    Hi Janie3882,

I am new to RTA and saw your post about this road trip. My family and I are also planning to travel from Ct. to Florida this winter. We have about the same number of adults and two kids 6 and 3. I was wondering if you can give me any advice as to what routes to take and stops to make. Any info would be really helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to RTA, ss.0606! I doubt that Janie has been back to the forum since that original post was written, 5 years ago.

AZBuck suggested I-95 if you just have a minimum amount of time -- from CT to FL is 2 to 2-1/2 days, depending on exactly where you start and end. With young children, add extra time as they need to run around, too, and stretch their legs.

As far as what stops to make - a good set of paper maps or an atlas will give you some ideas of what's along the highway, but you need to have more time than the minimum to make any significant stops. To give any advice, we'd need to know a little about what interests you.

Welcome to the RTA Forum, ss.0606!

You've responded to a thread that is 5 years old, and the original poster hasn't been back on the site since they made that post back in 2010.

Certainly, Buck's advice still applies, and it's worth taking a look at the links in his post. If you want more specific advice, I'd recommend starting your own thread, and as Buck also suggested to the original poster, give us more details about the amount of time you have available and what kinds of things you are interested in seeing/doing while on the road.
