Summer Road Trip from GA to TX up to OK and CO back to GA | Ideas for a great trip?

Our family is planning our first road trip in July. We plan to spend 10 days touring some of our great states. We'll begin in GA and travel toward TX and/or possible New Mexico. From there we'll travel up towards Colorado and would like to travel back home through Kansas to Oklahoma, Arkansas, TN to GA. Any ideas or route is much appreciated. Also, do you think this is enough time to take in all there is to see and appreciate these states? Thank you.

To take in "all there is to see and do", you would need close to a lifetime, but to be honest your not really going to have time just to appreciate each State. It will be in the region of a 3500 mile round trip with detours [and depending on where you start exactly] to go through Texas to Santa Fe in New Mexico and up to Colorado springs in Colorado before turning back towards home. By the time you get into a City or attraction such as a National park this will equate to 6 or 7 hours a day, every day, on the road. It is doable, but for a family road trip, and especially as it is your first one, I think you might be biting off more than you can chew for it to be fun.

If by chance your journey takes you any where near southwest Oklahoma...

You gotta grab a burger at Meers Store & Restraunt. It's on highway 115, 1 1/2 miles north of the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. (<--- which if you're there you should drive up Mt. Scott on the Refuge or hike some of their trails... very nice place! best part about this area! my fav hiking spot is the Elk Mnt. Trail)

Anyway... They have Really REALLY REALLY! great burgers made from 97% lean grass fed longhorn. so.. good... :)

they have a pretty good peach cobbler too with homemade ice cream.... yummmm

Man, I might have to make a trip soon myself after talking about it :)
