    Default Vague Advice

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

Very generally, you can expect the weather to be cool and wet, but getting warmer and drier as you head south obviously. May is when the pacific coast weather is changing from its wet winter pattern to its dry summer pattern, so there will be elements of both and you will have to plan accordingly. As for cost, that is even more variable but for two people for three weeks $2,500-3,000 would be a comfortable amount that would allow a moderate but not extravagant travel style. By cutting corners and watching your pennies, you could do it for somewhat less. And as vague as those answers have been, the rest are even more nebulous, because they are entirely up to you. I know nothing about you, your interests or your tastes. RoadTrips are not one size fits all sorts of things and the one that will best suit you is the one you'll design. So keep doing research on the places you think you'd like to see, paying particular attention, I think, to the places and activities that you can't see or do at home. The advice you're likely to get here will be more about the driving aspects of your trip rather than clubs and hotels in the cities. I just haven't seen a lot of those types of recommendation. Camping along the way is one way to cut costs and see something different, but would not work as well in or near major metropolitan areas such as San Francisco or Los Angeles.
