Virtually nothing remains of Jerome and Rohwer, two internment camps for Japanese-Americans that operated in Arkansas during World War II. But this visitors' center, only a few miles away from their sites, helps preserve the memories and experiences of those who were imprisoned. Opened in a former train depot in downtown McGehee in 2013, the center is still evolving and developing its collection, yet is already a poignant, well-organized tribute to the men, women and children who courageously endured this ordeal.
