  1. Default OKC to Yellowstone

This is our second year going to yellowstone and 3rd going to the Colorado. Both times we took route 35 to route 70 through Kansas.

This year I wanted to take route 40 and then cut North through Colorado. Is this worth it?

Second question is once I get to Wyoming should I take route 287 (which we did last time) or take route 191 up through Jackson?

Default To me it's worth it, what about you ?

Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !

Worth it ? It depends on what you are looking for and how long you have for the trip, but if I had the time I would certainly be looking to make stops through Colorado and Utah. It is very scenic, Lot's of great roads and National parks, but only you can decide whether it's worth it for you and your interests. Jackson will take you right through the Tetons, but if you are headed back to OKC then you should look to take a different route in each direction.

If you want any help and have specific questions please ask.

  3. Default Thanks!

We have about 10-12 days total but I only have 2-3 days to get to Yellowstone (campsite reservation)! The drive through Kansas is very uneventful and we have done it two years in a row so I thought taking route 40W and then route 25N would be a nice change of pace?

The night before the campsite I plan on getting a hotel relatively close to Yellowstone, what are your thoughts on those two routes (191 vs. 287)?

As for the ride back I am considering two options:

    1. North to Glacier Natl park for 2 days and then South through the Dakotas with a stop a Mount Rushmore

    2. East to Dakotas with a side trip to Devils Tower, then Mount Rushmore

Some depends on how the kids are doing!
