I'm planning a trip to Detroit to catch some of the NCAA games. The games will be at Ford Field. I've heard parts of Detroit aren't safe. I was hoping someone could tell me what areas to stay out of.
Thanks

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!
Detroit is not the easiest city to get crime data on. However, I was able to find this map, and while there are other crimes you need to worry about, I think I'd be leery of heading into the red/purple areas mapped on the second page. As always, you will be the best judge of what makes you uncomfortable. Trust your instincts.

thanks.
does anyone know of any specific streets to avoid? that map is pretty general.
i'm specifically interested in the downtown area.
I've only been down in that part of Detroit a couple times, once for a game and once just to drive by the Stadiums (Comerica Park, the Tigers field is right across the Street from Ford Field). Honestly, the area doesn't really scream out a really safe feeling. However, when events are going on, there are enough people that you shouldn't be too worried about, I just wouldn't wander too far away from the stadiums.
