Cattle Days in Hidden Valley

Entitled "Cattle Days in Hidden Valley," this mural was completed on October 25, 2000, by artist John Pugh of Los Gatos, California. It is located on the south-facing wall of the Pillar Church of Twentynine Palms Bookstore, at 6308 Adobe Road. [Map]

According to the Oasis of Murals brochure (Mural #16), a rodeo bull named Valentine waits patiently for the muralist artist to wake up. The Oasis of Murals is a collection of twenty murals and one sculpture underwritten and developed by the Action Council for 29 Palms, Inc. Additional murals depicting events, desert scenery, and historical figures that contributed to the development of the Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree National Park area can be viewed here. In addition to completed projects, the mural collection includes a number of the works in progress.
