I really liked that photo that shows the fire station directly below the tram station. It's a little unusual to have a county fire station paid for by hotel corporation -- Mirage/MGM.
This is the Bellagio Station of the (free) train that connects Bellagio with the Monte Carlo Hotel with stops at the Crystals shopping mall.
The "special significance" was a misnomer -- I had thought when I posted this photo that this tram station location was very close to the site of the former "fake" roller coaster -- but I was off by at least 1/4 mile....
So... I think you and GLC nailed this one! More photos from City Center here, and here and here.

This marker is NOT a Historical landmark, but it was considered worthy of this little park in it's honor, in the middle of a Soybean field.
Could this be in Iowa?
And perhaps related to a first-of-its-kind train robbery?

Right part of the country, but, as I said, the location is NOT noteworthy for it's history.
Well that rules out....
...And then I thought it might be the place where soybeans were grown for the first time to create soy milk in the USA.

It would appear there is a benchmark, and if its not historical in nature, it would seem that it has be noteworthy simply because of its location.
However, I don't think that's right, because it doesn't look like western South Dakota (center of the 50 states) but Kansas (center of the 48) doesn't border Iowa - and neither does North Dakota which could be the center of North America.
