    Default Watch the online news...

At this point nobody in a position of authority (Caltrans or the Park Service) seems to have spoken to this. I assume we might hear something in the next few days; I would suggest using a news search engine to look for recent articles containing "Tioga".

My personal guess is: No, this is not the final closure. It looks to be a one-off early season storm, and a warm one at that. I think they'll probably get CA120 open again, but I have no idea when that might be.

The Tioga webcam referenced earlier on this thread is a blur this morning.

Here's where you can get realtime highway info; plug in 120 to see status of Tioga Pass (currently closed).

    Default It's not a "blur"

That blurred image is a result of snow covering the lens!

Default As they say in the financial world...

Past performance is no indication of future results.

That said, this website lists the opening and closing dates for Tioga Pass back to 1933.

Right now, 120 (Tioga), 108 (Sonora) and 4 (Ebbetts) are all closed. I-80, US-50, CA-88 (and 89), CA-178, and CA-58 are all open. US-395 is open.

    Default Getting cleared?

The 5pm (approx) UCSD webcam shows the road by the entrance station has now been plowed. Doesn't look too deep.

    Default It's open

Per Caltrans; CA120 is now open to traffic again.

From the look of the weather reports, nothing major is coming for at least the next 10 days (minor storm early in the week).

now the pass is open, but the weather forecast for the next night are not so good . do you think will snow a lot?
