Lake Michigan Circle/Golf Tour

Thinking about circumnavigating Lake Michigan this September by minivan. Will start in Chicago. I have about a week, maybe ten days. I would like play golf along the way. Play some course in the morning, drive the afternoon etc.,etc. Any suggestions about routes I should take? Courses I shouldn't miss? Doesn't have to be high-end golf, just something nice. Thanks in advance.

They just wrapped up the annual PGA Tour event at Brown Deer Park on the north side of Milwaukee. This is the course where Tiger Woods made his pro debut (and hit a hole in one) but it is also a public course at a county run park so its not insanely expensive.

Of course, if you like insanely expensive, you could check out Whistling Straits, which hosts the PGA Championship next year. It will only set you back $400 once you include the mandatory caddie fee!
