This could be "holy ground" to some (not to me...)

Where is it? What is it? And why would so many of us stood in this very spot?

Do I smell alcohol?
Yesiree bob, about 100 feet away there's a noticeable aroma in the air....

... but since it's the only distillery I ever visited (about 20 years ago)
Jack Daniels in Lynchburg, TN?
And if you search by the distillery name on this forum, you'll find a remarkable number of posts about the place...
Good job!
I've mentioned this place at least a couple of dozen times on the Forum....

And then this one is just for fun....
(Photo by Mark Sedenquist) I've always wondered about the skill of this pilot to land on this tiny helispot in the pitching ocean. I saw this in 1994 near Martha's Vineyard....
(Sorry about the photo quality -- I didn't clean the slides before I scanned them, I guess!)
I visited this place exactly once, in the fall of 1983 on a road trip I took after a conference in New Orleans. Something must have stuck in the back of my mind. I also recall looking up at all the storage buildings on the ridgetops holding all that booze in a county where you could not buy any (dry county).
I have to confess; I own some Jack, but only for mixed drinks (I do like the occasional Manhattan), not sipping.
The harbor scene looks a lot like Stonington, on Deer Isle, Maine.

Yes, that is Stonington Harbor -- home of Purple Fish and other fun haunts!

That's got to be the luckiest guess I've ever made. I've been to Stonington exactly once, in 1976, while assigned to an exploration crew looking for metallic mineral deposits along the Maine coast. We were bunking on Little Deer Isle and went up to Stonington one night for supper.
Holy Smoke. Wish I'd have bought a lottery ticket today.
